New York Nicks aim to level their play-off series against New Jersey Nets
in game 2 late tonight. Game 1 was all about the Nicks getting beat up by their fierce rivals in more ways
than one.
Not only did they suffer a humiliating 107-83 defeat, it is most likely Tim Thomas
won�t play after landing hard on the deck in the first game.
Game 2 is sure to be an equally
physical affair as the first time with the Knicks set to adopt the same type of tactics employed by the Nets
last time.
In a bid to avoid a repeat of the thrashing dished out to them in game one, the
Knicks went over their mistakes by watching film for over an hour.
They then went over what
adjustments are needed to counter the Nets' aggressive attacks on both ends of the floor.
With
thoughts of the injured Tim Thomas fresh, it would be surprising if the Knicks do not show more toughness
this time around. However for the visitors to have any chance then their defence simply has to improve.
Patience is also vital with several quick shots from the perimeter in Game 1, leading to
long rebounds that ignited the Nets' break and left the Knicks out of position to recover quickly and get
back on defence.
Looking at the handicap market the Nets must overcome seven and a half
points. While the Knicks should be far better prepared for tonight's encounter, the loss of key
players such as Tim Thomas and Allan Houston makes it hard to see any other result than another convincing
Nets win.
The Knicks have lost their last two meetings against the Nets now by a combination of 49
points. Expect those statistics to read something along the lines of lost the last three by 60+ by the end of
game 2.
