William Hill have taken.the largest bet placed so far on the outcome of the up-coming London Mayoral Election - a wager of 2500 on Ken Livingstone - placed by a Welshman in Swansea who doesn't even have a vote in the poll!
'The customer is a political betting specialist, and although he cannot vote in the election himself he is convinced Ken will win' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.'This is already looking like a very interesting betting heat and we expect to take much bigger bets before the issue is settled'
The bet was struck at odds of 4/5, meaning that the customer will colllect 4500 if Livingstone does win, and Hills have now shortened his odds to 4/6 whilst lengthening Boris Johnson from Even money to 11/10, while Brian Paddick remains 14/1third favourite.
