After initially being unable to split Mark and Michelle at 5-6 each last
night, bookies William Hill have seen support for Michelle to win the Pop Idol final next Saturday and have
made her the slight favourite at 8-11, with Mark at Even money.
Hills spokeswoman Jennie Prest
said, “It was a bit of a shock when Sam went out, but we are getting used to the shocks in this series now!
We’ve seen a few three figure bets for Michelle yesterday and today, so we’ve shortened her up, but we are
expecting it to be neck and neck up to Saturday. It’s obviously quite hard to predict the public opinion, but
–as with Will and Gareth last year – as soon as one price shortens up punters see value in the other. Mark is
a bit of a revelation, although plenty of people have backed him he has never been a favourite at any stage,
now he could nick it right on the line!”
