A week or so has now passed since the news Mario Vasque has quit American Idol – originally the readaBet.com selection – and I have now had time to consider who is worthy of being the replacement contestant in the betting verdict.
Before looking at the main contenders, a number of the participants can be confidently struck from the list, namely the bottom seven of the bookies list. All of these are decent enough singers but don’t quite possess that star quality.
A further two names I do not believe are potential winners are Anwar Robinson and Carrie Underwood. Although both are strongly fancied to do well by the odds makers, I won’t be surprised if the voting public become bored with these two over time.
This leaves two contestants, Nadia Turner and Bo Bice. We have already seen several times now that performing in front of millions of people is virtually second nature. The judges are also extremely complimentary to them week in week out.
The question is which one is most likely to be crowned the American Idol 4 winner. Having made an assumption before the series begun that a male would win, I am going to stay committed to this belief and plump for Bo.
This is not to say Nadia won’t go a long way, and in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if they both made it to the final. However, it is fairly obvious the producers wish for the males to fare well (hence the decision to ensure a 50:50 split for the final 12.
There is also another reason to pick Bo and that he has managed to remain in the competition despite having the competition of another rocker in the group. Once Constantine Maroulis is gone, it should mean Bo picking up quite a few more fans.
At the time of writing Bo Bice is available at 5/2 to win, and that is well worth a decent sized investment at this stage of the competition.
