FIXED ODDS

5pts Man Utd and Newcastle Win Double at evens (General)
1pt Gianfranco Zola to score first Chelsea goal at 9/2 (Bet365)

At first glance, Manchester United would seem very likely to beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford. When you have then considered the dreadful away form of the Villans and their awful record at Old Trafford, as well as United’s impressive recent results, the home win looks a dead cert. Newcastle should also get the three points at St. James’ Park against lowly Charlton. The Magpies’ magnificent win against Juventus confirmed their remarkable improvement this season after a slow start. Buoyed by that result, the Toon should be too strong for one of the early season strugglers.

The firms continue to ignore the prolific scoring form of Gianfranco Zola, even though he heads the Golden Boot charts with eight goals from nine starts. Two strikes last weekend continued his excellent run in front of goal. Odds of 9/2 represent excellent value for the diminutive Italian to open the scoring.

SPREAD BETTING

0.25pts Buy Premiership Multi-Teams at 54 (IG)

This market with IG multiplies the goals scored by five of Saturday’s teams, namely Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, and Newcastle. We should expect plenty of goals at Highbury in the Gunners game with Blackburn. These two sides tend to play out high-scoring thrillers, while there is definitely the potential for an Arsenal backlash after their two recent defeats. Meanwhile the two Uniteds, Manchester and Newcastle, could hand out some real punishment to Aston Villa and Charlton. Premiership leaders Liverpool will have a harder test against Spurs, but they are in great scoring form at present and very strong at Anfield. Lastly at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea take on the struggling Baggies. Knowing Chelsea, this may not be a walkover, but Ranieri’s side are quite lethal at the Bridge, where have averaged two goals per game. It should not be forgotten that if one team fails to the score, then the make up will be zero. However Saturday’s five teams are all playing in front of home crowds against weaker opposition – each team has the potential to score plenty.
